La Santisima Muerte is a “banned saint,” the Roman Catholic “cover” for an ancient Aztec goddess named Mictecacihuatl, a death goddess and co-ruler, with her husband of the underworld. She is said to be a protectress, of just judgement & karma, and is said to keep husbands faithful. It some places, her crystal ball represents her reach into the world of the living.
